Jinglan Floral brings a flowering composition into the dark mineral depth of Jianshui clay. The pattern is discovered gradually, as the pot turns and each carved line catches a different edge of light.

The floral drawing is shaped by the vessel instead of being confined to a flat panel. Incised lines and filled colour move with the shoulder, allowing the decoration to stay alive from every angle.
Under the hand, the unglazed surface keeps the image connected to the material beneath it. The result is decorative, but never detached from making.
